I don't think you will find a head cover, I have been looking for one, the only way would be to find another engine for parts.
Just finished my 10hp one and have never seen parts for sale only motors.

Re: British Anzac 1.5 Pilot outboard
I would say that British Anzac are pretty rare, You could try and look for British Anzani parts, that might help.
I can't remember off the top of my head what they look like, as I would have to go in the shed and look.
That looks like it.

Re: Merc 500: stubborn screw
Exactly the same a my 64 Merc, nut under the trim tab/anode, they do stick, knock it off, they are not hard to get hold off.
Don't know about heating up an anode?

Re: Remote setup
Well that's a kind of an answer.
I thought most remote controls were reversible, my old teleflex set-up is anyway, a very simple job to do.
Sorry to bother you.

Remote setup
I have a old 64 Merc 500 on my boat and I'm thinking of getting a smaller motor as a backup/spare.
So is there other makes of outboards that I can use on the boat, without changing the remote set up, or am I restricted to Mercury/Mariner outboards.

Re: BRITISH ANZANI OUTBOARD
I have 4 Anzani's, the 5hp has no water pump, so you cannot run in a tank. The smaller one, I.E. the Pilot is a nice motor and very quiet, have two of them one needs a new gearbox bush. Most 5hp have the square blue tank, but the 40's Anzani has the round tank like the old Seagull. I have never paid...

Re: Could you Identify this boat
Yes I did that to 0.235" BTDC on number one, but used a vernier, shouldn't be to hard to make one if need be.
Have plenty of piston stops from my old motor repair and maintenance days, just a funny way to set-up an engine.

Re: Could you Identify this boat
OK, forget the transom height that's not a problem any more, as the stainless transom plate has been added to, so I have remove that addition. Just going over the timing again on the Merc 500 and as far as I can see, its set up is about 34 odd degrees BTDC at max advance, with only a TDC mark to go ...
