Re: Glastron Carlson CV 19 SS (1974)

I agree with the above, I have also sprayed Metalflake "back in the day" and the base coat colour and gun needle / tip size are key to it all. If the gun set up is too small the nozzle (paint tip) will clog all the time, also the base colour should be pretty close to the flake colour. In my inexperi...

Re: Glastron CV19; re-engine.

Poor old engines, that was torture, all in the name of oil eh. However, on fuel economy, here's a thought- a friend of mine runs a hotrod with a BBC in it but he's just converted it to TBI with a kit from the US and is hoping to save a load on fuel, he says you can go in and play around with it and ...

Re: Glastron CV19; re-engine.

Drove one of these years ago, it belonged to a friend (mint metalflake blue one) what a piece of kit! I agree with the above, I would re-fit the Olds engine and forget about the cost of fuel, also it will keep the value in the boat. The Olds engine is a dedicated lump (according to their wikipedia p...

Re: Broom Capricorn

I've had a couple over the years, the aren't worth loads as it's a limited market (ie us lot) I think I sold the last one for about 3K and it was lovely with a 4 cyl Mercruiser. The Brown one above was on eBay a few weeks ago at a much lower price, then was removed so I expect this seller got it for...

Re: 15ft Sorcerer Project Mercruiser 3.0l parts wanted

Here's a couple http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/mercruiser-3ltr-inboard-engine-very-low-hrs-/182208554262 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mercruiser-3-0ltr-engine-take-out-runner/151994921512 Would be better at about £700 each but there doesn't seem to be much about. You're right about the superior engineering ...

Re: 1969 Evinrude Lightwin 4, help needed :-(

Could be the Crank seals, they often get tired on old 2 strokes, and instead of the cylinders sucking the fuel from the carb into the crank case, they just draw air in around the ends of the crankshaft, which is often why you can only get them started with loads of throttle and they die out as soon ...
