Re: Forum v Facebook

A belated reply from a regular visitor to Internet Finds and an infrequent poster. I ran a sports forum with half a million posts spanning some 14 years, but had to acknowledge, somewhat reluctantly, that Facebook was taking away readership, so had a rolling shutdown over several months. Whil...

Re: Batboat

6 years on and unfortunately the Batboat has been languishing under a tarpaulin on the drive ever since I bought her. I overpaid for a 4 wheeled trailer off Ebay that turned out to need new wheels and tyres, new hitch, mudguards, new roller stems and a lick of paint all with the intention of droppin...

Re: Trailer rollers - stuck firm...

To be honest I bought a bit of a pig and have had to put 4 new wheels, tyres, mudguards and a new coupling on it, am paying £40 to free the rollers and have new turnkeys made with more expense to come, broke down on the M25 when bringing it home and had to pay the AA £280 to get home so it's getting...

Re: Trailer rollers - stuck firm...

Picking these up this week from a local blacksmith/metalworker... I don't like to rush things :hilarious: Before I finally put the trailer good use I aim to bosh it over with a lick of paint. I'd normally reach for the Hammerite but a couple of stories online suggest it's not great for trailers so a...

Many thanks HAC...

I think I might have an answer. I'm going to try and take the whole units off (two bolts) and chuck them at an engineering company to sort :hmmm:

Trailer rollers - stuck firm...

I picked up an old trailer from Ebay and thought with a bit of heat, penetrating oil and a 6lb hammer i'd be able to free the screw clamps that loosen to allow free movement of the roller stems which had slightly rusted and had a coat of pain brushed over. I have 6 to sort and can't get a mm of move...

Re: Wheel and tyre deals?

Ok thanks... Last question.......... I've spoken to the guys at Western Towing who have two suitable wheel deals using Maxxis Trailermax tyres (I already have one so this appeals as i'll save a few quid) Now the choice is down to 4 ply or 6 ply, dependent on the weight of my boat and I haven't a clu...

Re: Wheel and tyre deals?

Be wary of places like Towsure - their wheel/tyre combinations can appear cheap but wear out in 5 mins so not worth buying. Rapier & I found this out the hard way. Thanks for the heads up.... Until now i've been trailerless so after many weeks trying to get something the right size, the righ...

Re: Wheel and tyre deals?

I find my local tyre guy is a great help, as there are so many options available. Sometimes they're able to source lower-priced asian tyres. Resign yourself to paying though, with a 4 wheel trailer... presumably with large diameter wheels.. Only 10" wheels on it when I bought it. To be honest I thi...

Wheel and tyre deals?

Having just acquired a trailer from Ebay that on closer inspection needs a few quid spent on it, rather than mess around cleaning and painting the wheels i've been looking at the wheel and tyre deals available online. Having received quotes in excess of 200 quid for 4 new tyres, fitted, and as the w...
