Re: Aluminium windscreen frames

I remember your Moonfleet build and recall reading your thread. I joined in late 2012, after visiting the Beal Park event, meeting Nick and a couple of others, names which escape me now. Thanks for the useful tip on loading photos. As soon as I have something worth posting I will use that. It looks ...

Re: Aluminium windscreen frames

I keep watching this, so pleased to see that you have finally succeeded. I still don’t have a shot of my fitted trim/frame, as shortly after what I thought would be my last coat of deck varnish, then final assembly, I hit a snag. It seems I will have to give the deck another rubbing flat and try a c...

Re: Rebuild Started - Wooden Runabout

Thanks for the advice and the warning on their use. Sadly I can’t have a tank in a ready state. Every time I use mine it’s a challenge, so for a brief ‘preflight’ check I thought a muff would be helpful. I now have the engine fitted, controls working, steering sorted and the kill switch installed. L...

Re: Rebuild Started - Wooden Runabout

Thanks for the response. Sadly that unit is unavailable! I have a plastic barrel which I have cut to size and use for testing and use that with an engine stand. I wanted the muffs just to put on the motor, to try and practice to start it fitted to the boat, before I get to launch for the first time....

Re: Rebuild Started - Wooden Runabout

Can anybody recommend a good make of flushing muffs for my Blueband 1975 Mercury 20 hp please? No experience of this, so don’t want to buy something that isn’t up to the job. Could be expensive mistake!! I’m still pressing on with the rebuild. Engine fitted, steering now sorted, next major task on l...

Re: Rebuild Started - Wooden Runabout

Thanks, for the link. The answer is what i thought it might be. The kill cord needs to put the live feed to earth and replicate the Mercury push kill button on the engine. In my case, that will be terminals m/m on the unit I bought shown above. I will post some more pics when I can get the boat outs...

882EC68E-51D3-4357-B2FE-9ED304F6FD61.jpeg Well folks, it’s been a while! If you thought this restoration was dead, it’s not! Eight years now since I started work, but I’ve never failed a restoration yet and this is not going to be the first. Life, 2 house moves, illness and a lack of a windscreen s...

Re: Aluminium windscreen frames

Pleased to see you have finally managed to get your screen sorted, re my previous response on this topic. Whilst I haven’t posted anytbing on my ‘Wooden boat Restoration’ topic for a couple of years, it’s still not dead! I’ve been working on it. Last November a friend who has a bottling/canning busi...

Re: Aluminium windscreen frames

Thanks for the response, much appreaciated. My project is under restoration projects on this forum. ‘Rebuild started - Wooden runabout’ I started it in 2012 and my last post was 2017, so I don’t blame anybody for thinking it’s dead! (It’s had 40,000 views!) However it’s very much still alive, if ver...
