Re: Wanted remotes and manual for 1976 Merc 20 hp

http://s1342.beta.photobucket.com/user/Bronteboxer/library/ I have put some photos of my newly purchased 20 hp Merc as requested. See link above for photo bucket - sorry files too big to get on here. It started first time from cold and ran well when I picked it up. The engine case inner had been spr...

Wanted remotes and manual for 1976 Merc 20 hp

Hi, I have now bought a 1976 Merc 200 for my wooden runabout restoration - (another thread on the forum). I am now looking for remotes to suite this motor. Happy to pay the right price for the right items to get me safely on the water. If you can help please let me know. I am also looking for a manu...

Re: Rebuild Started - Wooden Runabout

Just wanted to make it clear that there was no criticism implied regarding the location of organised events, in case anybody was reading into my comments. They are done because, that's where the interest clearly is placed. I know from other club activities I have been involved with that a club is as...

Re: Rebuild Started - Wooden Runabout

I am based in West Yorks. I have asked twice on the forum for any Northern based members to get in touch but have had no response. :grrr:

Re: Rebuild Started - Wooden Runabout

Thanks for the info on the trailers and bunks chaps. Just for the record, I emailed 'Extreme Marine' with a couple of queries on their bunks via their 'Contact us' on the website from the link here on this thread prior to an order. They didn't bother to respond. So if they can't be bothered respondi...

Re: Rebuild Started - Wooden Runabout

This is just why I asked the questions! As a newbi to this hobby, I have been doing my research on how the smaller boats are cradled on trailers and many seen to have little support and also significant overhangs in front of the transom. How many users actually match boats to trailers or just buy a ...

Re: Old Trailers

Just the question I asked myself in the same position. I have been agonising over this topic for months. Have you seen my entry under 'Wooden Runabout - Restoration started' in the Restoration section? In the end I decided to strip everything back to the basic chassis and rebuild to my requirements....

Re: Bunk material?????

Have you read my entry from yesterday under 'Wooden Runabout - restoration started'? I was asking about sourcing genuine bunk material. If you replace, have you got a source lined up?

Re: Rebuild Started - Wooden Runabout

Thanks, that is really helpful. I will proceed on that basis. I can now size up those bunks sent on the link and see if they will be compatible. Whilst I can do most things in the comfort of indoors, I have to weld and grind the metal work etc outside due to the risk of sparks from such work. To say...

Re: Rebuild Started - Wooden Runabout

Many thanks for the response - Yes, I have a full length central trailer chassis rail, which previously had rollers for the keel. My plan was to replace these as required for front and back and add maybe a center keel roller - although originally it was just the two? Would three be preferable You ra...
