Re: Albatross Alpine Continental Slipper Stern

.......any particular , nuts bolts , gaskets , mastics we should use Another thought:- In view of the perennial problem of the alloy in that area work-hardening and cracking due to the vibration, is there any mileage in sandwiching a sheet of rubber on each side, such as something cut from an old i...

Re: Albatross Alpine Continental Slipper Stern

Which raises in my mind the question as to whether the ones on Alpines are the same as the ones on Continentals or not. My other Alpine (2002) has a (rather rusty) steel P-bracket with only four mounting screws.

Re: I've got the hump! (And I want to see yours!!)

Doubt had been expressed in the past over the originality of the hump on the engine hatch of 2003 as it differs from the standard hump. However, stripping the paint appears to confirm that it is original. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v247/Tatra_603T2/Albatross%20Alpine/photobucket-1732-13449648...

Re: Coil over heating

I don't think Lucas restricted mounting positions. On the Series I and II Sunbeam Alpines the coil was mounted horizontally on the side of the cylinder head! On later models it was moved to one of the scuttle bracing struts but was still tilted over more horizontal than vertical. I don't know for ce...

Re: Coil over heating

The correct setting for the voltage regulator on a 12 volt dynamo system is 14·7 - 15·3 volts at 20°C so that isn't the problem. Coils for use with ballast resistors are rated at 7 volts and the ballast resistor is shorted during starting by extra contacts on the starter solenoid. Add a ballast resi...

Re: i had need to fold & anneal some alli for my albatross

I had the same trouble with the cracks reappearing. I ground them out with a cutting disc and found that what they say about using the stainless steel rod to scrape the alli beneath the pool of "solder" is essential. I managed this on a vertical surface:- http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v247/Tatra...
