Re: Delta - Year of Build

The serial number is month (1 or 2 digits), then year (2 digits), then hull number (3 digits) - so yours is hull no 027, built December 1963.

Re: Sunk my workboat

Our Yamaha 70 motors on raceboats are always getting submerged, nobody has ever to my knowledge had a problem with the ECU/CDI units, which are sealed - a spray with WD40 on the connectors seems enough, ditto the coils. Speed in getting the motor up & running again is crucial, then run as long & fas...

Re: Outboard Cover foam

I've used the stuff they make camping mats out of in the past, it always seemed OK.

Re: Albatross engine angle

Since we machine new P-brackets to 18 deg, that kind of has to be the angle I guess...but it's measured from the engine bearers, not the hull bottom, which isn't necessarily straight.

Albatross #140 found - with date!

Members may be interested in this bit of info... One of my customers took an Albatross in as part payment against a car, and asked me to take a look at it. Turned out to be an early model, in reasonable shape, paintwork restored, but with a non-original Kent engine and a few other mods over the many...

Re: Delta Nymph restoration

The serial number decode is: First 3 or 4 numbers, month & year, last group of (in this case) 4 the build number - so this one was built 04 1965, and is hull number 1011. Ray clearly used 10xx to denote the Nymph, so this is Nymph no 11. The plate is the same as was used for the inboards, hence the ...

Re: Twister, know any of these raceboats?

Bit late spotting this one - been busy working! The yellow & blue S2000 is Tim Lewis from Oulton Broad, the red SL250 is Keith Whittle. SL250 is a new 'class' using the huge Evinrude 250, which has taken 2 or 3 years and a lot of money to develop to a speed that matches the old S2000! Yes, these wil...

Well found Geoff! That's bust my monthly download limit already...

Just think of all those great lakes & rivers to play on, compared to what we have to put up with here.

Re: Wooden Hull Paints

I've had very good results from United Paint, Oulton Broad, Lowestoft. They do a good marine gloss plus varnish, nothing fancy, which dries a lot quicker than some despite being white spirit based. I used their stuff on all my raceboats with no problems - and found a foam brush worked very well, giv...
