Uploading Pictures

Hi All,
Please note the following guidelines for uploading images - Thanks  .

Images attached to posts are limited as follows:
Maximum Image File Size: 700k
Maximum Number of Images per post: 4
There are also limitations on the screen size of the image - please keep them no more than 1024x768

Very large Images can slow down page load times for everybody - especially those with slower connections.

If you feel this is a little restrictive, please remember you can host your images elsewhere (eg Photobucket) and then use the 'Img' tags to embed them in your post.

Cheers,

Robin

When you write a post, look down under the box in which you write & you will see two tabs, one say 'options' the other ' upload attachment'. Click on this tab, 'browse' & point to your pic, add a title if you want & hit submit. Just make sure the filesize isn't too big.

Hi Robin,

I've been unable to upload images to the forum for a couple of weeks now. here's the error message I keep getting;

Server error.

The website encountered an error while retrieving posting.php?mode=reply&f=6&t=2230. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.

Here are some suggestions:
Reload this web page later.

I get this message on "Chrome" as well as I.E.

Any suggestions?

Regards,

Ian.

Ian,

Hmmm... just uploaded a couple of tests with no issues.
I think (hope) that the message 'server error' was just that (which is beyond our control) - but that should be very temporary.
Please have another go and let us know if you encounter any further problems.

I'm assuming you are adhering to the size constraints as stated?

If so - we will need to look elsewhere as it appears that (bar a small hiccup) no other users have encountered this problem.
Keep me posted...

R

All photo editing software (even "Paint") will allow you to reduce the dimensions of an image in pixels and many will allow you to choose how much compression you use in a .jpg image to reduce the file size without reducing the image dimensions.

Instead of uploading the image as an attachment to your posts, why not insert it between [img]image[/img] tags directly in the post which you can do if you have it hosted elsewhere on the web such as on PhotoBucket. This has two advantages: one for you in that image and file sizes are unlimited and one for the forum in that it saves on server storage space and forum bandwidth.

Hi Howard - Good tips from Tatra Man there...
Using the [img] tags is a good idea if you are having probelms resizing images correctly.

Alternatively you could try using this site: http://resizr.lord-lance.com/
Just dial in the width and it does it all for you.

Hope you're well,

Cheers,

Robin
