Fletcher Arrow

Post by Rapier »

1966 Fletcher V130 project on a Snipe breakback trailer. Nice unmolested boat - colour and style not to everyones taste though :hilarious: On a more serious note, I was 99% sure these early ones were short shaft transoms..

The lighting board is a work of art, as are the escape ladders...

Gelocat sanding / polishing over for the time being. Gelcoat has done the typical colour separation common with 1960s boats - it's more prevalent with the playground colours. Not an issue to me, as decent gelcoat beats paint hands down; chalk the rest down to patina. The floor and associated stringers are rotten underneath that layer of trakmark, which is entirely to be expected with a boat of this age. There's a top layer of csm on top, but it's come away from the remnants of ply underneath. I'll spend a few hours pulling out the seats and cutting everything out and feathering the glass in preparation for a new floor.

This project has been sitting too long. I had to do some work to do more cleaning up of the hull in preparation for the new floor, hopefully planned for next weekend. What I thought was airspace behind a flimsy 'bulkhead' turned out to be bastard bouyancy foam. Saturday's quick job quickly became a mission - glad I don't suffer from claustrophobia, as the confined space is very challenging; add the heat, dust and noise from the multitool for 3 hours...not to mention physically wielding a crowbar to hook it all out. I really hate the stuff :x and the amount hard won would have kept the :help: afloat. Time for a :drink:

I admire your enthusiasm, well done.

Missed you at Chertsey.
