Well done with the progress so far, a sterling effort in the time you have had her.

Just a heads up, you have brass fittings screwed into the water jacket of the gearbox - they should be 'ali' hose fitting. These 'ali' fittings are sacrificial anodes for the gearbox, people get fed up with them rotting away so put brass ones in. Then the gearbox rots away! Possibly never an issue on this boat if it hasn't been used in salt, but worthy a mention.
Mercs are like women, no 2 are exactly alike. That's what testing is about. In general it is safer to test motors and props than women!

Many thanks for the heads up. I think the box will be OK but may return the fittings to how they should be. The boat was orginally bought by a family for water skiing in the Midlands area and Windermere so would assume mainly fresh water use. Then the next owner only used here once 11 years ago on the River Trent and now I own her.
I'm fairly lucky that it's the same engine and box combination thats fitted to Shameless Lady my MK1 so know them fairly well from previous rebuilds, I even have a copy of the orginal manual and diagrams for the box which are still made by TMP down on the Thames

There are a couple of inward facing hooks on the deck either side, they are quite chunky looking things. I think they would have been used with a rope ladder to get back into the boat . Am I right? Any other ideas?

Few more photos for you all to see.

With the weather and climate being so miserable I decided that until the boat has got a roof over it's head the hull for now has gone on the back burner but yesterday I did finally put the engine back in. Now just steadily working through the ancillaries and either painting them, polishing them or at lease giving them a dam good clean. I've reupholstered the dash today so that may well be next thing to be put back in.

Few more things put back on the engine today. Shouldn't take much longer before I try starting her.

Well not much has really happened since my last posts but i'm slowly ploding through the bits and pieces.
The latest was finishing up the dash, just a one gauge to be refurbished and a oil pressure light. Finish off the steering wheel toda, It's be sanded, filled (it had cracked), sanded again, painted, laquered and finished off with a F&W logo just going to laquer it to seal it now.

Just need to crack on with the seats now and hope the weather continues to hold so I can sort the hull

A little more progress with the interior today.

I've decided that I want the interior to look like below
Image

Although I'd already started and fitted the cockpit side cards (door cards!!!) I hadnt plucked up the courage to start the seats. I've started the rear base seat and it's been a steep learning curve. It still isn't finished and there are some bits I may change for the other seats and come back to this one and re-do it but I'll see how they turn out first.

Not too bad for a first attemp but they can be better.
