Lady S Build Video

Post by water_buoy »

Here's a little video showing some of the build pics from my runabout Lady S plus a bit of footage at the end.

Not a restoration I know but a project none the less, hope you all enjoy.

Cheers, it's and old shipping container turned workshop which is a little tight! The next one I'm planning to build is two inches wider, I don't think I could get away with going much bigger than that though before I'll have to move.

Beautiful work, wasted talent if you’re not a professional joiner.

How did you achieve the finish on the front deck, varnish x lots or is it some type of acrylic finish?

Thanks! It's about 6 full coats of "Jotun AS Clear" which is a 2 part clear laquer/varnish which has been sanded with a DA every other coat (I started by hand and soon gave up :heat: ). The final coat was flatted with a special DA disc which was 4000 grit and then polished.
I went through to the wood in a few places though so I'm going to spend the winter redoing it as well as other bits, I'll probably use epoxy this time though because you can put it on that much thicker so it shouldn't take as long!
