Excellent progress achieved since the New Year. New laminated stem fitted, new transon fitted and first diagonal skin fitted to bottom and sides. Final prep underway before we laminate a glass/epoxy skin over the whole hull. GM 325 V8 in final stages of build in the US. I found a Meadows in Johannesburg but, as soon as the farmer, where it was stored, heard there was someone interested, he bought it off the owner where presumably it will remain as a rusting block with all the other old farm machinery he won't let go - shame. You can keep up to date with the rebuild on Facebook under "British Powerboat Company Launch Rebuild By Chris Somner boats".

Hi Mike, have you contacted Southampton City Council? The author of 'Fast Boats and Flying Boats' Adrian Rance, was a leading light in the city's museum department. Not sure if he's still with us, if so he must be getting on a bit and retired by now however there must be extensive material in the city's archives that may help you.

To anyone who is planning to come to the Poole Classic Boat Regatta at Lake Yard please take the time to call into C Serve at 25 Balena Close, Creekmoor Industrial Estate, Poole, BH17 7EB and see for yourself the great progress being made on the restoration of the British Powerboat Company Runabout. Chris Somner, the boat builder, and his team will give you a warm welcome and show you round.

Do you have any more info on the classic boat regatta? I'd love to combine it with popping in to see the boat!

Could it in fact be one of these and NOT a BPC boat?
