Boat transport and shipping

Post by solitaire »

I have just had excellent service from a boat transport company, Buying boats unseen or at auction, for me, has in the past resulted in some horror stories about dodgy trailers and hours spent waiting to be rescued from the roadside with broken axles, suspension units and in one case a broken trailer chassis, now I have certainly grown older and possibly wiser I have taken to hiring a decent 4 car wheel car trailer (for about £30/day) and putting the whole package on it...........

My latest acquisition was in Glasgow (I live 370 miles away) and had been in storage for 15 years - so I suspected perished tyres etc - I found a guy who does some business with one of the internet auction shippers - his feedback was excellent and I discovered he specialised in boat movement in the UK and Europe.

Although based in Carlisle "TERRY" works all over the country - he has low loaders, boat trailers and car trailers - he understands boat trailers and if (as was my case) the boats own trailer is not suitable for a journey he will load it onto one of his transporters.
My 15ft+ inboard boat and trailer (about 1.1 ton on total) was collected on time, I was frequently informed of its progress and it arrived safely and undamaged on a transporter, Terry unloaded it and parked it on my drive for under £300 - he can be contacted directly on 07884 251498

Great service from Terry (well his son Chris actually) today, moving my next project down from the Lakes to Cheshire.
They were great, reliable, communicative, and unfazed by a bit of weather. Highly recommended.
