I'm looking for a company to insure my 1968 Broom Pisces. I want fully comprehensive and I'm not going to get the boat surveyed for the insurance company!
Any suggestions? I've tried CETA and the usual suspects and I get all the way through the online process only to be told at the end; "Due to the age of your boat, we are unable to quote". Advise welcome; thank you!

I have used Hayes Parsons who have always quoted. They have never needed a survey either- once they asked and I said "really?" and they said "no, don't worry!"

Try Navigators and General, I use them for two different boats

A lot of CMBA members insure through GJW, they also do multi boat policies if needed. I have mine insured with them.

Thanks all - Navigators and General would only quote third party. GJW wouldn't quote because of the age of the boat. My current insurer is preparing a quote for me. I'll see what they come up with - because I had the boat for sale online 3 years ago, they are unwilling to insure it for more than the amount I was selling it for then.

We deal with Barbora at GJW. You're a CMBA member (?), so they know us and we are able to self-certify that the boat is fit for purpose and seaworthy. Age has never been and issue...one of mine is 1957, the other '68 and there are older boats around the club. When it comes to insurable value it's subjective and the market is specialised (when was the last time you saw an immaculately restored Pisces for sale?), but you are the one paying a rate / £1000, so it shouldn't matter.

Just had a quote from my current insurer; boat + trailer + dinghy = total insured £11,000.
Fully comp; annual premium of £160. I'm happy.

hi there i am looking to insure my old boat.but not sure of value and not sure of model.the boat inhereted from my dad which he bought second hand in 1960 approx,he seems to recall the builders name being aqua marine i have seen a similar looking boat on a site called aqua avenger!.i rang navigater an general with info i had and they said anything worth more then 3 grand i would need it certified,or it would be 162 pounds at a value of 3000 pounds of cover third party.i will try and put some photos of boat on so perhaps someone could correctly id it and give a value.but in the mean time any companys that any one could reccomend would be handy thanks.
