Meadows Whippet engine at Pitsea

Post by Editor »

In researching engine options for a model of the Whippet hydro (I've finally found my plans) I remembered being told that the engine at Pitsea was a 1500 cc Meadows Whippet made to suit the class, but I felt sure it was a side valve. Looking up Meadows history I can't find any mention of a side valve amongst their models. Can anyone shed any light on this?
Here's the entry in the defunct museum's website for this engine:-

Meadows Whippet 1.5 Litre Inboard Engine 1937 BASMM

Note it doesn't say what type of engine it is.
