Figurehead Mascot Identification

Post by markboy »

Hi guys,

I hope you don't mind me seeking your help with identifying a metal mascot I purchased from France?

I bought it as a car hood ornament, but I'm lead to believe this isn't for an auto at all! The strangest thing about it is the fitment. It has a thread screw hole on the bottom of the feet and a 3 hole fitting in the head/beak area. It seems like it is mounted vertically or at inverted angle like on the bow of a small boat, something similar to a figurehead. The mascot is cast bronze, nickel plated and is based on a Stork/ Crane bird design and looks 1930's in style.

Have you seen anything similar to this before?

Any help would be grately appreciated!

Mark
