Chris Craft fuel sender

In the final stages of putting the '63 Ski Boat back together! Need to put a new sender unit in the tank. Want to try and marry it up with the original Chris Craft fuel guage. Anybody know the rating for the sender unit that would have been used?? Don't particularly want to use a piece of wood as a temporary 'dipstick' but if needs must!!!!!
