Hi all - my delta came with a 1600 crossflow which is not salvagable.........
I spotted a Watermota Seatiger Engine and gearbox 2:1 Ford marine (1600 FORD Crossflow Petrol) 711 Block Marine inboard engine and J type Reduction Marine gearbox that came out of a classic freeman. Seems in good condition with freshwater use prior.
Will this be a good match to the Delta??

The engine would be fine, you would have to ditch the gearbox as I am sure you won't fit it in there, but you can swop all your bell housing over from the original engine.
Mercs are like women, no 2 are exactly alike. That's what testing is about. In general it is safer to test motors and props than women!
