Alternator ?

Post by kwoffa »

Having fitted a new alternator which charges my battery,,i find that when i am poodling about on a river just above tickover i find the amp meter is reading a tad low....it certainly rises if i give her a blat..however in some situations this is not possible....so how do i increase the output...do i do it just by reducing the size of the pulley ? or is there something else i can do...?

HI, seems logical to me that as output is Rev dependent, any mechanical way to simply increase the effective rpm of the alternator ie. smaller pulley, is preferential to any complicated electronic way of upping the output? Cheers Kgarla
