Looks like the crossflow bell housing is deeper than the old Consul one the normal gap will allow some thrust on the flex mounts and room for a prop puller. I will re-profile the rudder to make it better balanced and less like a paddle...

I have been installing and building bigger boats with shafts for years and normal distance is about 15-25mm to reduce any run out - 3" seems alot ...
