Re: Albatross Alpine number 2002 restoration
This is absolutely brilliant work, congratulations! I did not understant though, how did you close the gap/slit? Is welding possible on the alloy? I have a couple of tiny holes (galvanic corrosion) at the bottom of my hull, around the place where the prop shaft goes through and I'd be int...

Re: Forgotten Albatross found, needs help.
Hi, Welcome on the forum, congratulations for deciding to save this Albie! The engine does not necessarily need a replacement : engine blocks are supposed to be water-proof... Well, depends how high the water level got. My engine stayed for several years in 30-40cm of water, but since no water got i...

Re: Albatross Alpine number 2002 restoration
I'm so glad this one found a good home!
That damn Scrappy Man has already destroyed way too many of them...
Good luck with the restoration, keep us informed!

[SOLD] Albatross Continental Slipper Stern #2002 for sale!
Hi guys, I've been contacted by the owners of the Albatross Continental Slipper Stern #2002. They're trying to get rid of it asap, unless it will be sold for scrap (which would be a pity!), so if you, or anyone you know, might be interested, please PM me and I'll provide you with the contact details...

Re: Albatross , skiing , Jon pertree ..... 60s dudes
Couldnt get the link to work I think this is the one though? http://www.britishpathe.com/video/water-ski-circus/ Allegedly this one is a Moonfleet, not an Albie : http://images.britishpathe.com/?id=4278&num=4&size=still http://images.britishpathe.com/?id=4278&num=96&size=still Great videos, by the ...

Re: Made an Albi rudder
Nice move creating a new topic. Great job, looks really like an original one. Is the top cavitation plate riveted on as well? I can't see how it is fixed? Rivets are "flush" (counter sunk) on one side, how about the other? I suppose the shaft is bevelled (not sure the right word...) at th...

Re: Albatross rudders
I agree with A Series, I don't think weight really is an issue, due to the lift created by the cavitation plate. Plus, the rudder blade is pretty small, so even made of solid bronze, it shouldn't be that heavy... Nothing a serious bearing can handle. I love the rudder you made, I had already seen yo...

Re: Albatross rudders
Hi Robert, Congratulations, your rudder looks great. I'm in the same situation as you, my ali rudder and the top aluminium fitting are damaged and need replacement. Would you have the dimensions you used to turn the top fitting? (I took dimensions on mine, but it was heavily corroded so I had to cut...

Re: Ignition timing - Albatross 100e
Hi, No timing mark on mine either. I guess we need to make our own mark... Here's how I intend to do so in the future (my Albie is under restoration): I'll replace the spark plug on cylinder #1 with a long metal rod ; then using a dial gauge with the tip on that rod, I'll precisely find the TDC by r...
