Finally got to Falmouth to see it
They say it’s a real attraction being both insane and shiny!

Re: Drum Steering ???
Give us a photo to help You must start with the drum. Thread the cable through the hole to the mid point of the cable. Then wind the cable different ways round each of the 2 sections on the drum. Picture which way you want the cable to pull the outboard as the steering wheel turns the drum. Then run ...

Re: Drum Steering ???
Hi
Mine didn't have a slot either but there will be a hole to allow the cable to get between the two sections before you start winding the cable different ways in each. Quite a few youtube videos out there to help and as Solitaire said the term to search for is 'cable and pulley steering'
Good luck

Re: Broom Rapier Mk. 2
Finally finished the paint . Very happy. The cream colour is a good match for the original and having the faux deck seams the same works very well. Now time to fit all the fun stuff!

Re: Forum vs Facebook
I've found the forum invaluable as a source of advice and support- it would be a shame if it didn't survive. The old posts are a great resource and sometimes provide the only info on certain boats or techniques available on the internet. Facebook is OK but it just seems too superficial and transient...

Re: Boat Speedo
The length of the tubing from the pickup to the speedo doesn't matter- so trim away.

Re: Broom Rapier Mk. 2
Hull flipped over and time for the decks. Its tricky sorting out the sequence of varnish, paint and faux deck stripes but I came up with a plan and stuck to it. Varnish first -masking off the outer edges. used Epiphanes roll and tip over the 3 coats of epoxy. Then masked off the stripes and painted ...

Re: Cable and pulley steering
Advice please My current Broom Rapier has its original wire and pulley steering which I will renew. The photo above was my previous PennCraft. The setup is different to most advice on the web in that the cables terminate on the outboard i.e there are no pulleys on the outboard bracket and no attachm...

Re: Broom Rapier Mk. 2
Paint. Steep learning curve. Done roll and tip before but managed to balls up the bottom red and had to rub it all back again.I'd made the rookie mistake of trying to lay it on too thick and insufficient 'tipping' meant that there were little air bubble volcanoes everywhere :grrr: Lesson leaned I mo...

Handed fairleads
I'm not sure my Broom had them the right way round and have looked for ages on the net to try and work it out.
Which way is correct?
And there are 2 more for the stern, which way should they be fitted. Thanks!
