Re: Trailer Nose weight ?
It used to be 50 pounds , not kilos, that was recommended! Maybe it just got metricated... My suggestion is that it should be a firm but possible lift - unless you have a Land Rover or something else which can stand it. Most family cars aren't rated for too much nose weight. If it's not enough, the ...

Re: those stupid trailer bearings
I'm a bit late catching up on this topic, but after multiple bearing replacements due to rusting, years ago, I decided to add grease from the gun each time before the trailer went in the water. the theory was that I'd fill the cavities with grease before the water got to them...and any water left wo...

Re: Chase Waterpark, West Midlands
My view is that anything like £500 for a day is way too much - if not enough bods show up because it's wet or windy or both the CMBA could be seriously out of pocket. Personally, I think £500 is too much even for a whole weekend. What we need is to find a piece of water that we can lease somehow, or...

Cholmondeley Pageant of Power - 18/19 July - Latest News
At last it can be confirmed that CMBA members have been invited to participate in the 2009 CHOLMONDELEY PAGEANT OF POWER on July 18th & 19th 2009. The intention is that we should stage a static display of Classic Motor Boats. There may - repeat, may – be an opportunity to run boats on the water, bu...

Re: Albatross engine mounts
We can still get the original type if needed. Not cheap though, the last ones we sold were £22.50 each - but at least they're the right ones! They were never designed to absorb thrust, so there's some movement of the engine under acceleration. So long as you have a decent clearance between prop & P-...

Re: Albatross Bow Pennants - Masts for
Hi Guys,
Been a bit out of touch lately, so I'm trying to catch up.
When I get back from roaring around Lake Yale (best speed so far 46 mph, but I'm working on it...), 3rd week of May, I'll sort out a supply of matching aluminum flagmasts to the original pattern...watch this space.

Re: Almost a perfect day!
Yes indeed Yogi - Welcome to the CMBA! Members are known for being friendly and welcoming...well, mostly!
And...what's better than classic boats and a Grand Prix together? It has to be a Brit winning the GP, I guess! And - no ADS!

Re: CMBA Handed Decals - which way?
I think convention has it that an image of a flag is printed to show it with the hoist to the left, which would normally correspond with looking at the port side of a boat. Likewise, tradition says that an image of a flag on the starboard side of a boat would have the hoist forward, so an ensign the...

Re: The River Soar 26/27/28th June 2009
Last year it was quite OK to arrive on Friday, I guess launching would be subject to permission though if the moorings are ready. You'll need to have your insurance cert with you and pay for a water licence, which Eileen organised last year very efficiently. It's a great venue at which we were made ...

Pageant of Power July 17-19 - update
In the light of our recent loss, I've been asked by the chairman to take on representing CMBA for the Pageant of Power event. The boat side of things is being coordinated by LOBMBC, which of course is local to me and easier to keep in touch with. Indications so far are that we'll be invited to put o...
