Re: Cardiff Bay Classic 2009
Thnaks once again for the organisers who spent so much time and energy in creating the event. the family really enjoyed it. I was fascinated by the history and how the place has changed over the last 100 years. i found a book at the visitors centre which has some excellent photographs of the docks s...

Chris-craft Fluke, ex Duke of Windsor
I met a guy this afternoon who had owned a 1930s vintage 16 foot Chris-craft called Fluke, which he sold some 30 years ago. A previous owner had been the Duke of Windsor (Edward VIII).
anyone come across it? He was curious.

Unfortunately it looks like the diary won't work for that day (no pass granted) so I'm afraid that we are unlikely to make it. If the situation changes, I'll drop you a line.
I hope that you have a great day.
Many thanks
Richard

Re: brealey smith jet boat
wouldn't it be a candidate for a new engine & drive? I wonder if you could get a modern (used) drive system, perhaps recovered from a modern jetski? Is there point in struggling to renovate a non-original engine if a better alternative, with much more power, could be found? 50hp doesnt sound much if...

Re: Cholmondeley Pageant of Power - 18/19 July
We went last year. The rain didn't help, and there were many teething problems, some of which, such as the pedentrian bottleneck of the bridge, are being solved this year. If you go in the expecation that you will have very little, or no, opportunity to use your boat on the lake, then you will proba...

Re: Albatross - What to look for??
Lots of people can give you technical information. My only suggestion would be to buy as good a one as you can get, as a basket-case will cost you a lot in time and money, while a good one will not be that expensive. Buy one on which someone has already spent a lot of cash.

SU carbs - air filters?
The twin SU carbs on my Climax Albatross have never had an air filter on them. I think that's how they were made. Reading some material for the boat safety scheme for the chris-craft, I wonder whether I should fit, for safety, an air filter with a flame-trapping gauze. Any thoughts? Does anyone/ever...

Boat safety scheme - glass bowl replacement
I am getting the Chris-craft through the BSS to enable use on the Thames. Post first inspection, there were lots of little things, mostly done. I need a driptray under the carbs for example, which i can get made locally. There are a few other simple things, like marking the locations of master switc...
