also check that there isn't a leak from the head gasket directly into the area so it is getting hotter where the gases are escaping.
having said that, not sure how you would do that other than compression testing all of the cylinders.

Re: She is almost ready!!!
Please remember that even the most tight wooden boats leak very heavily in the first 24 hours or so of immersion, especially after a long period out of the water. After 24 hours, ours lets no water in, but in the first few hours, the ingress is surprising, and without the pump... :help: I am sure th...

Re: Oil Filter Removal - Coventry Climax - Albatross
and the bad news is, yes, you cannot remove the oil filter for the reason you said. you have to take the engine out....! ministry of crap design wins again. However, there is a fix; I converted the mounting so that the bracket is bolted on rather than has nuts on extended studs, so that I remove the...

Re: Albatross 4 Seater Slipper Stern
Most of the climax engines are 1220cc and produced 83hp when new - I guess substantially less 40 years later.
As with many things, once these boats get to a certain speed, you need a huge and disproportionate increase in hp for a small top speed increment.

Re: Albatross 4 Seater Slipper Stern
the fastest albatrosses are, i think, the final two seaters with the stage 3 tuned climaxes. David P's will do about 44-45 mph flat out, which is as fast as any of the V6 deltas made 20 years later. Dick B's tvr-engined jetboat is hairy, exciting (just like its owner, then!) but ultimately does not ...

Re: Albatross 4 Seater Slipper Stern
If you are refitting ancilliaries, I would strongly recommend (against the feelings of many on this forum) that you fit, where possible, modern ancilliaries such as starter, solid state fuel pump, alternator, solenoid, distributor etc. If you have a problem, they are easily and cheaply fixed by a vi...

Chriscraft - The Michigan Minx - possible sale
We are considering selling our Chriscraft, Michigan Minx. She is a 16' 1946 Special Runabout, in largely original condition, but with an entirely reconditioned engine and new seats fitted in 2004/5. Imported from the USA in 2005. 95hp Chriscraft engine, good for about 35mph if you are in a hurry. BS...

Re: Does anyone know what make this is?
my father had one of those, and he called it the reluctant bride becasue it never ever did anything he ever needed it to do.... it went to the scrap heap many, many years ago as just so much junk.

Cardiff Event - Saturday Video?
Does anyone by any chance have any video of the events on the Saturday?
We got a little wet when going round the ringo on the parade, and I wondered whether anyone had caught the moment.
Regards
Richard

Re: Cardiff Bay Classic 2009
Terrific weekend, as others have said many thanks to all who organised & ran it it, notably Steve Carpenter & Mike Tarry but also thanks to the many who chipped in with help over the weekend, it ran like clockwork as far as I could see. We also have a huge debt of gratitude to the Cardiff Yacht Clu...
