Re: Cardiff Bay Classic 2009
Hi All, We're just back home from Cardiff since 21:00 this evening. A long day on the road and ferry in convoy with the legendary Tremlett15 crew back to Ireland. As newbies, we would like to thank the organisers of the event (the scotch went down too well in the early hours of this morning! :perfec...

Re: Towing boat in France
Rather than loading up on posts through the trip, I've managed to get a blog going in the last 3 days and can get updates with images to it from the mobile (although I fear the cost is stacking up after I got an alert from the mobile provider earlier today telling me how much I'd racked up already! ...

Re: Towing boat in France
Thanks for the details Ken. I've got the grease gun in as well as spare bearings and a tub of grease, and 3 spare wheels (well hey - I had them lying around, and it is over 1370kms of a journey for the whole journey!). When you mention 500 squids....is that the fine or cost of fitting bra...

Re: Towing boat in France
As an update, I have West Wind now on the Irish Small Craft Register. An email application on Wenesday night and a small 'Express' fee meant it all arrived including stickers with the numbers this morning.
Just waiting on the insurance paperwork on Monday.

Re: Boat Porn arrived
Hopefully I'll have mine next week before I travel. The Postman walks at a slower pace in my neck of the woods. :grrr: Update later that night....... Got home to find my copy nestled underneath the envelope with the Irish Small Craft Register details for West Wind (a 2 day turnaround from applying o...

Re: Towing boat in France
I understand what you're saying. I've spent a lot time getting the trailer to a level that I consider safe since getting it with the boat. I'm very confident in it for distances (I'd want to be for the journey coming up 8-) !). I had the rig surveyed last week and the surveyor couldn't find anything...

Re: Towing boat in France
Have you ever been stopped and had the rig checked over by the boys in blue in France? Once I land in Roscoff, I have a 90 minute journey to where it will be parked for a week prior to driving straight to Cherbourg for the ferry to Poole. My fear is that if I can't find a braked trailer in the next ...

Re: Towing boat in France
Thanks Clive - how long did it take to get the paperwork through? We have a similar register in Ireland. Also - when you take the boat to France, do you have a braked trailer for her? I've heard elsewhere today that a boat and trailer weighing over 750kg may have to be braked if towing in France. :g...

Re: Towing boat in France
I'll have the jack. I've towed the boat on this trailer up and down the country a few times in the last few years.
Thankfully changing wheels is the least of my worries
.
I'm just hoping I won't look
if Les Bleus stop me.
