Jack Frost and the Bowman oil cooler
Not sure how many of our boats are fitted with Bowman oil coolers. Mine succumbed to the -15 winter temperatures. At Windermere just we quickly found that the end cover had cracked although it was in fairly corroded state anyway. Thanks to Ted Marsh of the WMBRC who kindly welded up the offending it...

Re: Coils
Mine is a non ballasted 12V - will get a best quality Lucas Sport Coil ( if that is not contradictory in terms!). I had the wrong coil on my MG for a long time and what a difference that made when sorted. It is currently mounted on the the cross brace away from the engine - should be reasonably OK t...

Re: Coils
Thanks for the replies - it is always so good to know you are not alone in these matters. Tried to find source for Jacobs coils in the UK but no joy yet. For now we have put a friend's Bosch coil on which we took out of his Majestic Major (was a concours winner but now sadly a rusty heap!) - we also...

Coils
Had a fun day sorting out the Simmond's Daimler engine which failed on Windermere yesterday. Getting wet with the hose in the cooling system etc!! It seems one of the float chambers had jammed open flooding one bank of cylinders but also the coil had failed which is why it wouldn't start. Like many ...

Re: Grendon lakes, Northampton - Camping weekend
Hi Tim
Did you manage to make any progress on this one - would be nice to fix up an informal meet this year if we can - what sort of costs do you think would be involved?

Re: simmonds mounts
Paul The mounts from AV cost about £25 each and thats for the small ones. I guess the mounts for engines with fairly modest power outputs are not such a problem and mainly satisfied with some kind of car engine mount but the marine mounts are technically much better suited for what we need. I guess ...

Re: simmonds mounts
Since placing the above post I had a word with the guys at AV Vibration - http://www.avindustrialproducts.co.uk/
Their marine products would appear to suit our boats and they sell them on ebay.

Re: simmonds mounts
I have automotive mounts and to be honest they are no good and the engine moves about too much. These engines really should have some kind of anti thrust mount but those that I have seen for marine use look too large.
Any thoughts ?
