Re: Chrome.
I thought of a solution to painting the "Broom" name on the topsides; an indelible "chisel" permanent marker.

Re: Chrome.
I decided upon a full length cover to protect the decking. My last cover only covered from the windscreen to the engine hatch.

Re: Chrome.
That looks a bit better!
Be careful if towing with the cover on. Unless it is fleece lined it will scratch anything it contacts as it gets buffeted by the wind. My wooden decked Broom has suffered on the deck & windscreen. And DON'T put the cover on if it has been used in salt until it has been washed. Those salt crystals abrade really well!
Nice job.

Mercs are like women, no 2 are exactly alike. That's what testing is about. In general it is safer to test motors and props than women!

Re: Chrome.
Thank you for your sage comments, Alacrity.
Happily, this is a freshwater boat so it will be spared the abrasive qualities of salt crystals.
I don't intend towing it anywhere, but if I do, I will protect the contact points accordingly.

Re: Chrome.
Looking very good, makes me want to get on with mine now
My little Broom is having a make over, seats are out and carpet going in, nice black number Lol. Then im going to make up some sides out of marine ply covered with white vinyl cut a hole in them to make side pockets and may even make a small center console for stereo and switches, the seats can go back in as fairly new, pop up 4inch cleats (good old ebay), a flag and pole and then lighting + nav lighting.
We got some nice warm evenings now and light till about 8 ish so got to get out there and do some more work on her tomorrow. Must try and get some pics up of her
Is it cheating to be getting help from my friend that does the finishing touches to the sun-seekers down in Poole, it is parked in his car port (boat port) think he keen to get it finished so he can park his car in there again Lol
Really looking forwards to getting on the water this year
