Itchen & Scratchin Run

Post by Rapier »

Potential run the 15th June, a Saturday, before the Soar River Rally or the 29th, a Saturday, after, as preparation for Hayling in July. Any takers?

For the uninitiated here's the detail:-

I'd be up for this one  it would be the perfect opportunity to get my remotes and steering tested :D plus it would give me the kick up the arse I need to get them finished
Does it tend to get very choppy around those parts?

It does get a bit bumpy from time to time, but nothing that Geoff's Broom can cope with, or my Lone Star (I did get very wet on one run). Will be weather dependent though and then only the Stapelys / Tremletts tend to go beyond the mouth of the Hamble River & into the Solent and the slow boats mostly stick together. It's not nice in a Yarecraft unless flat though. As you've been out on Carrick Roads, will be a doddle..

Sounds good then, I'll put it in the calendar and hope this weather holds out for a few weeks

Im away that weekend...weather not looking to good tho....
Altho I was with Nick in one of those "(I did get very wet on one run)". runs, so a little rain would have probably gone un-noticed.

Pity; remember it well, in all the years of running them I'd never got wet ...it was only that one. Took me weeks to dry out...

Numbers up to 7 boats thus far.

All being well I'm in!
Mercs are like women, no 2 are exactly alike. That's what testing is about. In general it is safer to test motors and props than women!

Low water is at 9.33 on the 29th. For those using the Hythe slip it is best to avoid 2 hours either side of low water so no need for a very early start. Arrive about 10.30, breakfast in the local café and launch 11.15ish.
