When I was growing up (sic), all bug killers had DDT in them and I've seen the damage done by herbicidal defoliants - not sure I'd like to got back to those good ole days, but most of us take sensible precautions when we use such stuff.
Here's a link to Methylene Chloride; been a long time since I did chemistry, so will leave an experimentation to those that know what they're doing.

Oh, and poses the questions as to what does one do with a half empty tin of useless paint stripper, long past return date?
Nitromors

Fasten bra straps and remove dentures...
Re: Nitromors
Starchem Synstrip is about as good as you'll get nowadays. - I'll check mine tomorrow to see what it says the formulation is - they don't say on-line.
I hope my new Alpine floats better than my old one!

Re: Nitromors
I see they get round the European restrictions on the sale of dichloromethane products by only selling it for "adhesive removal".
Just as a matter of information: Starchem Synstrip also contains dichloromethane (and phenol) and is still labelled as a paint stripper and available on eBay. I don't know how the sellers get around the regulations.
I wouldn't know how the two products compare.

This is what you want: http://www.fiddes.co.uk/product.php?nam ... formuladcm. The Fiddes factory is in Cardiff, not far from the boat club, so stock up. I've spent many a dull hour stripping paint off stuff with original formula, just don't get it on your skin, you will soon know about it!
