A locker on a Broom Saturn?

I know this will have all the purists cringing, but I feel that there is lots of unused space under the front deck of a Broom Saturn, so I would quite like to cut out a small locker space there.
I know its not original, but will it ruin the structural integrity of the boat, or would it be ok?

If you need the room, just enclose the space above the kick board and access from under the deck. These are cheap boats and plentiful, so it ultimately doesn't matter what you do.
