I have just bought this engine to run on a rib/tender, however-and Im not knowledgable on this, I have been advised it may be more suitable to a classic craft.
The engine looks in almost new condition, its just serviced and runs perfectly (it has come from a chandlers and they have given 3 months guarantee). Its even got the spare shearpin still glued in the cowl from new.
If I didnt already know it was an old engine I would say on looking that it has been used casually for less than a season. It has a volvo penta plate on the shaft, spares didnt seem to be a problem as new impellor was fitted, is it even old? I am presuming from the name early seventies.
Question is do I use it on my modern rib or is it better used by the owner of a period craft, would anyone want it for such use?

Thanks in advance

The engine production finished in 1976..!! only very limited spares available, Volvo have no spares for these engines, and have not had any for the last 25 years.
