I discussed aluminium, plywood and fibreglass boat entries with their president a little time ago.

His comment was that they already had too many boats coming ie 200+ and therefore opening up the criteria further would place even more pressure on maximum numbers. That was the reason why they didn't open up the criteria further - not elitism.

Bit like cockroach whispers this topic...but thanks to a member who's been busy, we have the following promised as part of a static display

Donoratico, Boesch Gambler, Riva Junior, possible Poncelet, or Delta (Lumie..), Albatross Continental 100E and another possible Italian boat and of course the fabulous Fairey boats display...

They'll be a big draw to the visiting public I think.

All being well we will have a tent as a base this year, I should know more next week. It looks like we will have 8 - 10 boats on the stand so we will, as Rapier says, a big draw to the public. Hopefully the weather will have sorted itself by then so we won't need the tent!!
Mercs are like women, no 2 are exactly alike. That's what testing is about. In general it is safer to test motors and props than women!

Ok, thank you...

The trad should be friendly and we do welcome more boats than some people give us credit for.

I have always enjoyed the TTBR,even the year i had just paid and then told we should all leave :( there was a 2ft wall of water coming down the river :o ,the water was coming up behind us,what a year.
Cant make it this year due to the work on Horatia falling behind and we have a large nelson rally starting on the 19th.then theres the lets burn another piston out :hilarious: CTC rally.
We tried to enter the Champ one year and was refused, they changed there mind when they saw the picture :giggle:
Will miss all our friends on the dunkirk ships but you just cant do everything, those attending have fun.

It is with regret that it has been announced that the Trad Boat Rally has been cancelled thisyear due to the adverse weather conditions making the river un-navigable & dangerous. The meadow where the event is held is also partially flooded.

See here (scroll down the front page) for the official announcement.

Sorry to hear this news, I reckon it would have been a great turnout.
